This dual-function positioning awl combines a spring bar fork on one side and a pin punch with three interchangeable tips on the other, packed into a single 7 cm stainless steel tool. It is the multipurpose accessory every amateur watchmaker should own when starting a basic repair kit.

Product overview

The tool measures 7 cm in length and is machined from silver-finished metal with stainless steel tips. One end carries the classic two-prong fork used to push a spring bar shoulder back into the lug. The opposite end accepts a pin punch tip used to drive watch pins through metal bracelet links. Three additional tips are supplied so you can resize the widest possible range of bracelets.

The fork end works on any strap held by a spring bar, whether the case has drilled or non-drilled lugs. The pin punch end works on metal bracelets held by friction pins, including most ceramic bracelets where the link pins are still made of steel.

When to use it

Pick up this tool whenever you need to swap a strap held by spring bars or shorten a metal bracelet held by friction pins. It is the perfect starter tool for owners of mid-range watches who want to handle simple repairs at home, including changing a leather strap on a dress watch, removing a clasp, or removing one or two links from a steel bracelet. It is not intended for screwed bracelets such as those found on Rolex, where the BERGEON 7260 is the right reference.

How to install / use

  1. Choose the correct end: fork for spring bars, pin punch for metal link pins.
  2. For a strap change, push the fork between strap and lug and compress the spring bar shoulder; lift the bar out.
  3. For a metal bracelet, identify the direction marked by the arrows on the inside of the links.
  4. Select the tip diameter that matches the pin (0.60, 0.80 or 1.0 mm) and screw it into the pin punch end.
  5. Place the bracelet on a support block and drive the pin out by tapping lightly with a watchmaker's hammer.
  6. Reassemble after resizing and check that the pin is flush with the link surface on both sides.

Quality & origin

The tool follows standard watchmaker accessory specifications. The stainless steel tips resist bending and the interchangeable system extends the useful life of the tool, allowing tips to be replaced when worn. Suitable for repeated home use and for entry-level professional setups.

FAQ

Will this work on a Seiko or Omega bracelet?

Yes, on Seiko metal bracelets held by friction pins. Some Omega references use screwed pins; in that case a screwdriver such as the BERGEON 7260 is required.

Can I use the fork side on a Rolex strap?

Rolex Oyster bracelets use screws, not spring bars, so the fork side is not applicable. The fork works on leather and rubber straps fitted to the case via standard spring bars.

What if a tip wears out?

The three interchangeable tips can be unscrewed and replaced; spare tips are available in our store.
