A reliable stainless steel spring bar is the small but critical link between your watch case and its strap. Built for daily wear and frequent strap changes, this double-groove watch pin keeps your timepiece securely on your wrist.

Product overview

This spring bar is a precision watch part designed to join the two halves of a watch strap to the lugs of any watch case. Machined from corrosion-resistant 304/316L stainless steel, it features a double-groove tip that locks firmly into the drilled lug holes. Available in several diameters (1.00 mm, 1.30 mm, 1.50 mm, 1.78 mm and 1.80 mm) and a full range of lengths from 6 mm to 37 mm, it covers virtually every wristwatch reference on the market, from vintage dress watches to modern divers.

  • Lengths available: 6 mm to 37 mm (1 mm increments)

  • Compatibility: universal watch lugs, fixed and removable strap systems
  • Application: leather, NATO, silicone, metal mesh, rubber straps

When to use it

Use these spring bars whenever you need to attach or replace a strap on a quartz, automatic or smartwatch case. They are equally suited to Omega Seamaster-style lugs, Seiko divers, Cartier Tank dress watches, Breitling chronographs and most Swiss or Japanese references. They also fit modern GPS and connected watches that use a traditional spring-bar fitting. If your current bar is bent, rusted, or no longer holds tension, it is time to swap it for a fresh stainless pair.

How to install / use

  1. Lay the watch on a soft pad with the lugs facing up and identify the drilled hole diameter.
  2. Insert one tip of the spring bar into the lug hole on the strap side.
  3. Compress the opposite tip with a Bergeon-style spring bar tool or pin punch.
  4. Slide the compressed tip into the second lug hole and release; you should hear a soft click.
  5. Gently tug the strap to verify the bar is fully seated and locked.

FAQ

How do I measure the correct spring bar length?

Use a digital caliper to measure the inside lug-to-lug distance of your watch case (in millimetres). That figure equals the spring bar length you need. For diameter, measure the thickness of your old bar at its widest point.

Will this fit a NATO or Perlon strap?

Yes, as long as the lug width matches. A 1.50 mm or 1.78 mm diameter bar is recommended for NATO straps because they slide under the bar and benefit from a sturdier pin.

Are these bars compatible with smartwatches?

Many GPS and connected watches use a standard spring-bar fitting. Check your case lugs: if you can see two drilled holes, this bar will work.

Care and maintenance

To prolong the life of your watch and its fittings, rinse stainless steel parts under fresh water after exposure to salt, chlorine or sweat, and dry them with a soft cloth. Avoid contact with harsh solvents, perfumes and abrasive cleaners. Inspect your spring bars or pins at least once a year and replace them at the first sign of bending, surface rust or loss of tension. A small investment in fresh fittings is the cheapest insurance against losing your watch.
